The day was Tuesday February 8, 1910. This is the day that William Boyce founded the Boy Scouts of America. He thought back to a business trip he had been on to London, England. He was on his way to a meeting and got lost in the fog. While leaning on a lamp post trying to figure out where he was going, a boy came up to him and asked if he needed help. Mr. Boyce asked for directions to his meeting and the boy took him right to the door of his destination. When Mr. Boyce tried to pay the boy some money for his trouble, The boy refused and said "I'm a Scout, we do things just to do good." After his meeting Mr. Boyce had the Scout take him to the man who came up with this wonderful concept, General Robert Baden-Powell. When Mr. Boyce asked General Baden-Powell about the Scouts, he explained to Mr. Boyce all about the concepts of Scouting. With this information in hand, Mr. Boyce and several other adult leaders started the Boy Scouts of America. Every February the Cub Scouts celebrate this Birthday with the Annual Blue and Gold Banquet. The Pack 213 2009 Blue and Gold Banquet was held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at St. Pauls Catholic School, and what a banquet it was.
